A Brief Report on the Excavation of Northern Wei Tombs in Fangliangyuan,Sanjia Village,Pucheng County,Shaanxi Province
In August 2023,Shaanxi Academy of Archaeology and Pucheng County Cultural and Tourism Bureau jointly excavated two Northern Wei tombs in Sanjia Village,Luobin Town,Pucheng County,Weinan City.The excavation and discovery of these two Northern Wei tombs provide new archaeological materials for studying the form,structure,and distribution space of Northern Wei tombs in Shaanxi region.Especially at the northern end of the M1 tomb passage,there is a brick carved gatehouse with a wooden structure,four walls of the tomb chamber,and a brick built kunmen-pointed arch shaped coffin bed.This is the second location of similar Northern Wei brick chamber tombs discovered in the eastern part of Guanzhong,following the excavation of Yang Shu's tomb and the Hongnong Yang family's tomb in Huayin,Shaanxi,which has important value for studying the archaeology of tomb architecture and the evolution of burial customs during the Northern Dynasties period.
