Starting from the Inlaid Pottery Unearthed from the Dadianzi Cemetery——A Brief Discussion on the Inheritance of Early Chinese Inlaid Pottery and Technology
The inlay technique was widely used in prehistoric societies,often seen in various composite tools,and more commonly on objects with practical functions or purely decorative items.In the Neolithic Age,it was discovered that objects inlaid with bone beads,shells,clams,turquoise,agate by plant or animal glue.The inlaying body includes stone,bone,pottery,etc.In the mature stage of inlay technology,there was a phenomenon of attaching jade,shells,clams,and other objects to the surface of lacquerware,making practical objects luxurious and even ceremonial utensils.The inlay technique has also evolved from practical technology to an important manifestation of luxury goods processing technology in China's early upper class society.The phenomenon of inlaid bronze ware,ivory bone tools,and even bone inscriptions appearing in high-level tombs during the Shang and Zhou dynasties became the earliest luxury goods and even symbols of identity and etiquette.In the surrounding areas of the Central Plains culture,the inheritance,development,imitation,and innovation of inlay craftsmanship are presented in the form of inlaid pottery.From the Eastern Zhou Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty,the use of inlaid gold objects has always been the highest expression of aesthetic culture in border ethnic areas.
