Prehistoric Settlements,Households and Social Organizations in Liaoxi Region
The pattern of settlements reflects the organization of social units and is also a manifestation of social relations.From the Xinglongwa Culture of more than 8,000 years ago to the Lower Xiajadian Culture of 4,000 years ago,the social relations in the Liaoi region underwent profound changes.The analysis of the settlement pattern helps us to sort out the material and cultural differences in this process,to get a deeper understanding of the transformation of the social history of the prehistoric Liaoxi region.The differences of residence and its facilities,burials,sacrificial and ceremonial structures,moat and walls indicate that the potential changes in social relations at different scales,such as households and settlements,during changes in modes of subsistence,prolonged periods of habitation,and population growth,thus adding to the understanding of the prehistoric social and economic contexts of the Northeast China.
