Astragalus is a commonly used traditional Chinese herbs in the treatment of oral diseases.Studies have shown that Astragalus has good therapeutic effects both on oral mucosal diseases and periodontal diseases.The composition of Astragalus is complex,and its specific mechanism of action is not clear.This paper reviewed the anti-periodontitis effects of Astragalus extracts and main active ingre-dients,especially on periodontal pathogens and animal models of periodontitis.This paper provides research ideas and basis for the tradi-tional Chinese herbs of Astragalus's modernization and the development of new anti-periodontitis medicine in the later stage.
