Study on Influence of Low Viscosity Diesel Engine Lubricating Oil on Fuel Economy
In order to meet the increasingly stringent fuel consumption standards of the entire vehicle, diesel engine lubricants are gradually developing towards low viscosity. It carried out road testing at an altitude of 1 600 m and at-10 ℃ ambient conditions, with engine in the loop method to evaluate the actual road fuel consumption of the vehicle. The fuel consumption and emission results of the three different viscosity grade lubricants were compared. The experimental results show that the repeatability and accuracy of the en-gine in the loop method are within±5%,which can save research and development costs;in plateau environments, fuel consumption increases,NOx decreases, and particulate matter emissions increase. The fuel economy of 10W30 lubricating oil with the same formula is higher in cold state, with a maximum fuel saving rate of 1.71%.High temperature and high shear viscosity have the highest correla-tion with fuel consumption, which can characterize the fuel economy of lubricating oil.
