Study on allocation of soil and water conservation measures in the middle region of the Yellow River based on target sediment load
The middle region from Hekouzhen to Tongguan of the Yellow River basin is divided into 20 essential water and soil conservation units according to the differences of landform, climate and topography. The soil erosion modulus based on the essential water and soil conservation units, with 18 different combinations of terrace intensity, forest area and vegetation coverage, are calculated by the revised universal soil loss equation. Then,a method for defining the reference check dam system is proposed, and the numbers of reference check dam systems under the target sediment load of 100 million,300 million and 500 million tons at Tongguan Hydrological Station are calculated and the allocation scenarios of water and soil conservation measures in the Hekouzhen-Tongguan region are determined facing to the three target values of sediment load. Finally, the optimization of water and soil conservation measures is proposed according to comprehensive analysis of the potential of vegetation restoration, the demand for terraces, the potential of check dam construction and the current situation of channel sediment transport.
