In order to study the influence of the implementation of water intake project on flow and sediment processes and river topography in the Yuelai reach of the Songhua River,a two-dimensional numerical model for flow and sediment transport is constructed and the influence of the water intaking on flow rate,water level,diversion ratio and channel erosion and deposition is further analyzed.The results show that:the water level at the inlet of the Songbei diversion canal will rise by 0.03~0.04 m,which is caused by the water intake pro-ject.However,the water level at the main river channel near the inlet of the Songnan diversion canal is re-duced by about 0.03 m.With the effect of water intaking,the diversion flow rate of the Songnan lower diver-sion canal increases from 78 m3/s to 323 m3/s,and its diversion ratio increases from 8.8%to 28.9%corre-spondingly.The diversion flow and its diversion ratio of the Songnan upper and lower diversion canal reach to 104 m3/s,its and about 8.5%respectively.The main river channel of the Yuelai reach shows a state of ero-sion under natural conditions,the erosion depth is generally about 1.0 m in 20 years.However,the sediment accumulation near the water intake increases with the effect of water intaking,where the reach at the lower mouth of the Songnan diversion canal deposits more significantly with the deposition thickness of more than 1.0 m at the entrance of the diversion canal.
