Variation of bankfull discharge and its relationship with flow and sediment conditions during flood season in the Lower Yellow River
Based on measured data, the variation of bank-full discharge and its relationship with flow and sediment conditions during flood season in the Lower Yellow River was analyzed. The result shows that the variation trend of bank-full discharge in the Lower Yellow River is first decreasing from 7 000~9 000 m3/s in the mid-20th century to 2 000~4 000 m3/s in the late 20th century, and then increasing to 4 000~7 000 m3/s in the 21s1 century. The established relationship between bankfull discharge at Sunkou and flow and sediment conditions during flood season at Huayuankou shows the bankfull discharge increases with the increase of runoff and the decrease of the sediment coefficient during flood season. However, there is an obvious difference in the relationships between bank-full discharge of Sunkou and flow and sediment conditions during flood season at Huayuankou before and after 2000,which means that the use of water storage and sediment control in Xiaolangdi reservoir has changed the evolution mechanism in the Lower Yellow River.
