Evolution analysis of mouth bar system in the Modaomen Estuary based on geomorphic information entropy
The evolution of the mouth bar shows new characteristics in the new circumstance driven by high-intensity human activities. The evolution of mouth bar in the Modaomen Estuary(ME)of the Pearl River Del-ta has experienced many uncertainties in systematic evolution in new circumstance after affected by large-scale reclamation activities.Based on topographic data in different periods, the methods including digital elevation model, geomorphological information entropy are applied to quantify the evolution of different morphological units of the mouth bar,to analyze the evolution process of the depth-area relationship and clarify the rules of the mouth bar system. The results indicate that the mouth bar system of the ME presents a typical shoal-chan-nel structure, and the evolution of different morphologic units exhibits phased variation characteristics. The ge-omorphic evolution of the eastern channel bar system shows an orderly development, and the orderliness con-tinues to strengthen with the constantly changing of sedimentary dynamic structure in recent years. The geo-morphic structure of the western channel bar system is complex, its evolution has always been in a state of self-adaptive and disorderly development with a greater degree of uncertainty.
