The red gene,as the spirit of the Communist Party of China(CPC)crystallized through revolution and development,is an indispensable component of the red cultural memory,which serves as a crucial carrier of the red gene.From the perspective of cultural memory,contemporary college students face many challenges in inheriting the red gene,including the gap between memory and real life,the misguidance of historical nihilism,and the multicultural influence.In order to fully exert the influence of the red gene over contemporary college students for cultural nourishment,memory,and identity for the purpose of inheriting the red gene,the ideological and political education in universities and colleges should take measures to enhance students'sense of identity by using reason to convince others,construct memory carriers by shaping people through behavior,and to bring together the core memories by moving people with real feelings.
