Allocation of Captive Hu Sheep for Maximum Utility Rate of Space
Based on the specifications for standard sheep pen and continuous production in the Hu Sheep farm,if the number of sheep pen is determined to be 112,breeding rams and basic ewes are divided into 4 batches in different ratios of 1∶14,1∶28,1∶42,and 1∶50,with a minimum difference of 21 days in each batch's breeding. The comparison is made, which shows that ratio 1∶42 in three batches, with a difference of 21 days in each batch's breeding, results in the maximum annual output of sheep. But the daily utility of sheep pen is not balanced. In order to improve the utilization of sheep pen,the number of breeding batch is increased. The results show that with 9 rams and 408 ewes, the breeding interval of 22 days and the breeding number being 48 in the first batch, and 40 in the next 9 batches, the utility rate of sheep pen reaches 97.27%.Meanwhile,about 1 300 sheep are produced throughout a year. Finally,a specific production plan for 112 sheep pens in the farm is given aiming at the maximum annual output of sheep.
