Treatment of COD in Methyl Orange Wastewater by Electrochemical Oxidation
Electrochemical oxidation is used to treat methyl orange wastewater. The influencing factors on the removal rate of COD(chemical oxygen demand)from wastewater are examined, such us electrolysis voltage, electrode spacing, concentration and pH value of methyl orange wastewater,NaCl mass concentration and reaction time etc.The experimental results show that under the condition that the electrode spacing is 2.0 cm,electrolysis voltage is 20 V,initial methyl orange solution pH is 3,NaCl mass concentration is 0.5 g/L and reaction time is 30 minutes, the removal rate of COD in methyl orange wastewater treated by electrochemical oxidation with mass concentration of 500 mg/L and COD of 1 200 mg/L,reaches over 90%.Electrochemical oxidation proves to be an effective method in removing COD from methyl orange wastewater.
