Analysis of the impact of transient voltage support from renewable energy sources on the UHVDC transmission capacity
The high proportion of renewable energy sources has caused the weakened power system support capacity in the UHVDC(ultra-high voltage direct current)transmission project. In response to this issue, this paper first introduces the challenges posed by the massive integration of renewable energy into the grid.It further analyzes the impacts of DC faults on the AC transmission system at the sending end and the role of active support strategies.Final-ly,simulation analysis is conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of these active support strategies in mitigating transient overvoltage in renewable energy sources near the sending end, caused by DC blocking and commutation failures. The results indicate that the active support strategies provided by renewable energy sources are effective in suppressing transient voltage fluctuations, thereby enhancing the stability of the DC transmission system.
