Study on the Regional Development Sensitivity of Xiji County
Drawing upon 2020 data on slope, land use types, and population in Xiji County,Ningxia, this study evaluated the county's regional development sensitivity using GIS spatial analysis along with a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches. The county was categorized into one low sensitivity area, six medium sensitivity areas, six relatively high sensitivity areas, and six high sensitivity areas.Furthermore, the study synthesized the spatial differentiation rules of regional development sensitivity based on the characteristics of the sensitive areas. The results reveal that the medium and high sensitivity areas of Xiji County constitute 34%and 30%of the total study area, respectively, with the relatively high sensitivity areas accounting for 28%,and the low sensitivity areas making up 8%.Geographically,the county exhibits a pattern of"high in the middle, low in the surrounding areas"and"high in the west, low in the east".Specifically, the medium sensitivity areas are predominantly situated in the southeastern part of the county, while the high sensitivity areas are distributed in the north, west, and south. The relatively high sensitivity areas are mainly in the southwest, and the low sensitivity areas are concentrated in the central region. The findings objectively reflect the development sensitivity status of Xiji County and can provide a reference for the county's ecological conservation, resource utilization, and sustainable development strategies.
