Analysis of Rainfall Trends in Southern Ningxia Mountainous Areas Over the Past 50 Years
This study is based on the daily precipitation data from the Liupan Mountain and Guyuan meteorological observation stations located in the southern mountainous region Ningxia.Using methods such as moving average, linear trend analysis, time series analysis,Mann Kendall(MK)test, and Morlet wavelet analysis, the study investigated rainfall characteristics and trends in the region over the past 50 years. The results show that:the main type of precipitation in the region is light rain, with a uni-modal pattern. The variability in annual precipitation is greater than that of the number of rainy days. The average precipitation intensity and the frequency of extreme rainfall events have increased.Average rainfall in the region has shown a downward trend since the 1990s,followed by an upward trend from the 2010s onward. The Liupan Mountain region exhibits long-term oscillations with a period of 39 years,medium-term oscillations of 14 years, and short-term oscillations of 8 years;the Guyuan city shows a 34-year long-term oscillation and a 6-year short-term oscillation.
