Tree height is one of the important parameters in forestry resource survey. The traditional extraction of tree height parameters is complicated and has low automation degree. Therefore, based on Lidar data and ArcGIS engine platform, automatic extraction of tree height is proposed. After pre-processing and point cloud filtering of forest Lidar point cloud data collected by field work,a refined digital elevation model is obtained. Then, based on ArcGIS engine platform,an automatic tree height extraction program is designed to automatically calculate the tree height model by importing the filtered high-precision digital elevation model and digital surface model.Combined with the measured tree height data,a comparative analysis is made on the program platform. The results show that the residual difference between the extracted tree height value and the measured value is small, the determination coefficient is large, and the correlation is strong.
