Objective To study the expression of SSBP1 gene in hepatocellular carcinoma(HC)tissues using the cancer genome atlas(TCGA)database and to investigate the correlation between SSBP1 gene expression and clinicopathologic features and prognosis of patients. Methods Based on TCGA database,we extracted the rel-evant data, clinicopathological parameters of SSBP1 gene mRNA expression in 374 cases of HCC tissues and 50 cases of normal liver tissues, analyzed the expression of SSBP1 in HCC.By using the GEPIA database and R 4.1.2,the expression differences of SSBP1 among different clinical and pathological stages of HCC were ana-lyzed.The TIMER database was used to analyze the correlation between SSBP1 expression and immune cell in-filtration.Finally,the ROC survival curve was created using the R software pROC package to evaluate the diag-nostic effect of SSBP1 expression on HCC.Results TCGA database analysis showed that the expression level of SSBP1 mRNA in HCC tissues was higher than that in normal tissues(Pall<0.001)in both matched and un-matched samples, and the expression level was correlated with gender and M stage(Pall<0.05),but not with age,T stage,AJCC stage(Pall>0.05).Further Cox regression analysis revealed that high expression of SSBP1 was an independent risk factor for OS in HCC patients(HR=1.713,P=0.016).Immunocell infiltration analysis showed that SSBP1 expression in HCC was negatively correlated with the invasion level of naive B cells, but positively correlated with memory B cells and macrophages(|r|>0.2,Pall<0.05).ROC curve analysis uncov-ered that expression level of SSBP1 mRNA exhibited well diagnostic value for in HCC early diagnosis and prog-nosis(AUC>0.50).Conclusion SSBP1 mRNA expression is increased in HCC,and high expression is an in-dependent risk factor for poor prognosis.Meanwhile,SSBP1 has a good diagnostic value for HCC,and it can be a potential molecular marker for prognosis judgment of HCC patients as well as a potential target for im-munotherapy.
