Application and Network Pharmacology Study of"Medicine and Food Homology"Herb in Lung Cancer
Objective To investigate the mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine with the concept of"medicine and food homology"in treating lung cancer. Methods A total of 110 TCM herbs with the concept of"medicine and food homology"published by the National Health and Wellness Committee was chosen as study objects and the literature in China National Knowledge Infrastructure and PubMed databases in the past 10 years was searched. The effects and mechanisms of"medicine and food homology"medicinal materials and their active components on lung cancer were summarized. The top 8"medicine and food homology"TCM were screened out,the intersection of effective ingredient targets and disease targets in databases such as TCMSP and GeneCards was obtained,GO and KEGG enrichment analysis was conducted,a network of drugs-active compo-nents-targets-pathways-diseases was constructed and Autodock software was used for molecular docking of key components and core targets. Results Eight frequently used Chinese medicines were identified, including Curcuma longa,Panax ginseng,Astragalus membranaceus,Glycyrrhiza glabra,Ganoderma lucidum,Platycodon grandiflorus,Cinnamomum cassia, and Pueraria montana. The core active components were quercetin, kaempferol, formononetin,Jaranol, and puerarin.Among them,Jaranol has not been studied in lung cancer, but molecular docking analysis indicated a high binding affinity with the target, suggesting it may be a potential key active component for treating lung cancer. The core targets included CDKN1A,Rb1,CCND1,JUN,CDK1,and ESR1.GO analysis enriched to 3 421 entries, including 3 061 biological processes,106 cellular components, and 254 molecular functions.KEGG analysis enriched 195 signaling pathways.Molecular docking showed good binding activity between core targets and core active components. Conclusion The treatment of lung cancer with TCM of"medicine and food homology"has the characteristics of multiple components, targets, and path-ways,delaying the progression of lung cancer, and providing reference for the health management and prevention of lung cancer and"inflammatory-cancer transformation"patients in the future.
