Orthodontic treatment in adult patients by using three dimensions digital model
Objective To explore the clinical effect of orthodontic treatment in adult patients by using 3D digital model.Methods Forty-three patients who received orthodontic treatment in the orthodontic department were selected.Twenty-two patients by using 3D technology in orthodontics were set as 3D group,and the other 21 patients given conventional lingual bracket appliance were enrolled as conventional group.Then the clinical effect,the upper and lower inter-canine width,upper and lower inter-molar width,Lit-tle's irregularity index,dental crowding degree,Bolton's index and aesthetic effect were compared between two groups.Results The in-cidence of bracket shedding in 3D group was lower than that in conventional group(P<0.05),while no statistical difference was repor-ted for precise anastomosis and accurate positioning of brackets placement(P>0.05).The upper and lower inter-canine width,inter-molar width,and Little's irregularity index were all larger in 3D group than in conventional group,and the overbite,overjet,and chair-time were lower in 3D group than in conventional group,with statistical difference(P<0.05).The degree of upper and lower crowding,anterior Bolton index and total Bolton index were lower in 3D group than in convention group(P<0.05).The nasolabial angle,angle of inclination of chin,upper lip length and upper lip thickness of 3D group were larger than those of conventional group(P<0.05).Conclusion The orthodontic treatment in adult patients by using 3D digital model is effective,which has accurate bracket fixation,short chair-time,and significant improvement in lateral aesthetics.
