Predictive value of lipid accumulation index in acute pancreatitis in middle-aged and elderly population
Objective To investigate the effectiveness of the lipid accumulation product(LAP)in predicting acute pancreatitis in middle-aged and elderly populations, aiming to provide a reference basis for the early identification and management of high-risk patients with acute pancreatitis. Methods A retrospective study collected data from 2 076 middle-aged and elderly patients for acute gastrointestinal diseases.Logistic regression analysis and receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves to evaluate the predictive value of different obesity evaluation indexes for acute pancreatitis, with the area under the ROC curves evaluated in two-by-two comparisons by using MedCalc 19.7.2 software. Results Patients with acute pancreatitis were significantly higher in age,BMI,LAP,and visceral ad-iposity index(VAI)compared to those in the non-acute pancreatitis group(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis indicated that BMI,LAP and VAI were independent risk factors for acute pancreatitis. The area under the ROC curve(AUC)of LAP was higher than that of BMI and VAI,with an optimal critical value of 40.55,a sensitivity of 82.47%,and a specificity of 64.99%(P<0.05).Conclusion LAP is effective in predicting the risk of acute pancreatitis in middle-aged and elderly people in Ningxia, and is better than BMI and VAI.
