Objective To explore the epidemic and influencing factors of mild cognitive impairment(MCI)among the elderly people in Ningxia. Methods A stratified cluster random sampling was used to select 5 110 elderly individuals aged over 65 from 3 villa-ges and 8 communities in Ningxia 6 counties(districts)for cognitive impairment screening. The survey included demographic informa-tion,the dementia screening scale(AD8),and the concise community dementia screening scale(CSI-D).The binary logistic regression analysis was used to identify the influencing factors of MCI.Results The prevalence rate of MCI among elderly people in Ningxia region was 12.97%.The results of univariate analysis indicated that gender, age, ethnicity, marital status, monthly family income, residence, alcohol consumption, physical exercise habits, presence of chronic diseases and self-rated health status significantly affected the detec-tion rate of MCI among the elderly people. The results of logistic regression showed that the rural residence(OR=0.355;95%CI:0.258~0.488)and self-rated health(OR=0.301,95%CI:0.206~0.441)were protective factors against MCI onset while being fe-male(OR=1.236,95%CI:1.023~1.496),age over or equal to 75 years old(OR=1.711,95%CI:1.384~2.115),No spouse(OR=1.383;95%CI:1.091~1.754),average family income ≥4 000 yuan(OR=1.63,95%Cl:1.197~2.220)were identified as the risk factors for the incidence of MCI.Conclusion Living in rural areas and self-rated health are protective factors for the incidence of MCl,while female, elderly, unmarried, and average household income>4000 yuan are the risk factors for developing MCI.Therefore,Multifaceted intervention measures are necessary to mitigate cognitive decline among the elderly people.
