Application value of pulmonary ultrasound in the diagnosis of neonatal pneumothorax
Objective To explore the diagnostic effect of pulmonary ultrasound on neonatal pneumothorax. Methods A retro-spective study was conducted on 42 cases of neonates with pneumothorax by ultrasound.Among them,3 cases did not have chest X-ray results, and the remaining 39 cases were examined by lung ultrasound and chest X-ray at the same time. The consistency between the results of these two examinations and the diagnosis of thoracentesis was further compared and analyzed. Results The pulmonary slip dis-appeared in all children(100%),B-line disappeared in 38 children(97%),and 1 child still had a little B-line.Pulmonary spots were present in 33 patients(84%).Among 39 children diagnosed with pneumothorax by ultrasound,39 cases were diagnosed with pneu-mothorax by pleural puncture, the diagnosis coincidence rate was 100%.There were 26 cases diagnosed with pneumothorax by using both thoracentesis and chest X-ray,with a diagnosis coincidence rate was 66.7%.There was a significant difference in the diagnostic coinci-dence rate between lung ultrasound and chest X-ray and chest aspiration(P<0.05).Both pulmonary ultrasound and thoracentesis were diagnosed with pneumothorax, while among the 13 children who were not diagnosed with pneumothorax by chest X-ray,12 cases were diagnosed with mild pneumothorax by ultrasound and 1 case was diagnosed with severe pneumothorax. Conclusion Pulmonary ultra-sound has highly sensitivity in diagnosing and assisting in the treatment of pneumothorax, especially in detecting a small amount of pneu-mothorax,and its effect is significantly more effective than chest X-ray.
