This paper describes the principles of HVDC system overload limiter. It analyzes the various factors affecting the overload capacity and the action consequences of overload. Combining with the example of Yi-Hua HVDC line fault recorder diagram, the course of action of the overload limiter is interpreted. The overload operation precautions are introduced to ensure the safe operation of the equipments.
