Influence of Boarding School on Bad Learning Behavior of Adolescents in Rural China
Using national representative CEPS data,this paper investigates the relationship between boarding school and bad learning behavior of adolescents with rural China,and draws fol-lowing results.First,boarding school will lead to the increase of bad learning behaviors of rural ad-olescents.Even if possible endogenous problems are dealt with,the results are still robust.Secondly,there are significant differences in the influence of boarding school on the bad learning behaviors of rural adolescents from different groups.The impact is greater in higher paren-tal educational expectations,richer family cultural capital,and male adolescents.Thirdly,the mechanism analysis shows that boarding school will make rural adolescents more likely to eat un-healthy diet,deepen depression and fall in love,which will lead to an increase in the bad learning behaviors.Finally,this paper discusses possible ways to solve this problem,that is,the government improves the resources of boarding schools by increasing financial investment in education,which is conducive to solving the dilemma of boarding leading to the increase of bad learning behav-iors.On this basis,this paper gives some policy suggestions.
