Mechanisation Suitability of Farmland and Farmers'Agricultural Machinery Acquisition Behaviour:Based on Data from 4905 Farming Households in 10 Provinces in the Hilly Mountainous Regions of China
This paper empirically analyzes the influence of Mechanisation Suitability of Farm-land(MSF)on farmers'purchase behavior of agricultural machinery by using 4905 farmers'data from 100 counties in 10 hilly and mountainous provinces in China. The findings are as follows:firstly, the increase of farmers'MSF can increase their purchase probability of agricultural ma-chinery and promote the large-scale purchase structure of agricultural machinery. However, the in-crease of county MSF will reduce the probability of farmers buying agricultural machinery, but once farmers buy agricultural machinery, the county MSF will promote the large-scale purchase structure of agricultural machinery, and this conclusion has passed the robustness test;Secondly, the farmers are divided into management farmers and service farmers,large-scale farmers and small-scale farmers for heterogeneity analysis, and it is found that:(1)The influence of farmers'MSF and county MSF on the agricultural machinery purchase behavior of management farmers is consistent with the benchmark regression results, and the agricultural machinery purchase behavior of service farmers is only affected by the county MSF,and its agricultural machinery purchase structure will become larger with the increase of county MSF.(2)No matter farmers'MSF and county MSF,the influence on the purchase probability of small-scale farmers'agricultural ma-chinery is not significant. The county MSF has no significant influence on whether large-scale farmers buy agricultural machinery, and farmers'MSF has no significant influence on their agri-cultural machinery purchase structure;Thirdly, the mechanism analysis shows that farmers'MSF can promote the large-scale purchase structure of agricultural machinery by reducing the operating cost of agricultural machinery.County MSF can promote the large-scale purchase structure of agri-cultural machinery by reducing the price of agricultural machinery services.
