Based on the China Rural Revitalization Survey in 2020,this paper uses Probit model to study the effect of rural living environment on the off-farm employment of rural labor force.The model estimation results show that,rural living environment has a positive effect on the off-farm employment of rural labor force.The mechanism analysis suggests that the improvement of human capital,social capital and employment opportunity explains the increase in the probability of off-farm employment of rural labor force produced by the rural living environment.The promo-tion effect is more significant on the rural labor force who are female,under 45 years-old and with high school degree or above.In addition,the rural labor force who with a better level of digital gov-ernance of rural government,homestead right confirmation,land transfer and good transportation accessibility are more sensitive to the improvement of living environment.Finally,living environ-ment is also conducive to increasing farmers'income and achieving common prosperity.
