Can the Recognition Policy of National Key Leading Enterprises in Agricultural Industrialization Facilitate Enterprise Innovation?
Science and technology innovation is the fundamental driving force for building a strong agricultural country, and leading enterprises in agricultural industrialization take a major po-sition in promoting agricultural science and technology innovation. This paper examines the impact of the recognition policy of national key leading enterprises in agricultural industrialization on en-terprise innovation at the theoretical and empirical levels, taking leading enterprises in A-share listed companies involved in agriculture from 2008 to 2020 as research object. It is found that the recognition policy significantly improves the quantity and quality of patent applications of leading enterprises and promotes the transformation of patent structure of leading enterprises to high-qual-ity patents, but there is a certain lag in the impact of the policy on the innovation of leading enter-prises.To overcome the potential endogeneity problem, the above findings remain robust after a-dopting treatment effect model and propensity score matching method. The promotion effect of the identification policy on the innovation of leading firms is mainly found in non-state,leading firms with a stronger degree of financing constraints and in the central and western regions.Further mechanism tests find that the recognition policy significantly promotes the innovation of leading enterprises through certification effect and dividend effect, and the certification effect is the funda-mental driving force to promote the innovation quality of leading enterprises. This paper clarifies the impact and mechanism of the national key leading enterprise recognition policy on enterprise innovation, and provides a decision reference for optimizing the national key leading enterprise recognition policy and promoting the innovation development of leading enterprises in China.
