In traditional coke oven production processes, the waste heat from coke oven gas is not utilized, leading to energy wastage. For the structural characteristics of the 5.5 meter ramming coke oven in the 1.2 million t/a coke project,a retrofit scheme of"waste heat recovery and utilization for risers"is proposed.Waste heat recovery equipment is installed to reutilize the waste heat for producing low-pressure saturated steam and superheated steam, completely replacing the crude benzene tube furnace with steam. The research results indicate that the retrofit scheme can save a considerable amount of gas and reduce cooling water con-sumption.It also addresses combustion emission issues and safety hazards associated with open flame combus-tion.After replacing the crude benzene tube furnace with steam, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter are no longer directly emitted into the air. This project is not only an energy-saving project but also a safety and environmental protection project. It can serve as a reference for similar coking enterprises.
