Based on the detailed investigation for sand pipe bracket fracture fault of SS4B DC electric loco-motive,this paper analyzes and locates the root cause of the old sand pipe bracket fracture fault,develops an effective optimization scheme,and conducts the test verification and simulation analysis for the improve-ment scheme,ultimately leading to a good loading test effect.The new sand pipe bracket is made of 304 stainless steel and its structure is improved to resolve the installation issue of the old sand pipe bracket.The ultimate tensile strength of new sand pipe bracket is improved compared with the old sand pipe bracket,and the relative deformation is lower than that of the old sand pipe bracket.The improved sand pipe bracket is not prone to fracture or other problems.For the new sand pipe bracket,the overall performance and strength are enhanced,the potential risk of fracture of the locomotive sand pipe bracket is reduced,indicat-ing that the expected effect is achieved.This supports the efficient and safe operation of the locomotive.
