China's Main Measures and Achievements in Complying with the Stockholm Convention in the Field of Pesticide
In May 2004,the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants(POPs)took effect globally.In the same year,China officially adopted the Convention,fully fulfilling its obligations by taking steps to phase out,reduce,and manage a range of POPs.As we observe the 20th anniversary of the global implementation of the Convention and China's adherence to it this year,this article shares the main measures and achievements of China's compliance in the pesticide field over the past two decades.It covers various aspects such as the engagement in Convention negotiations,formulation of management policies,enhancement of national standards,exploration of alternative technologies,execution of compliance assessments,and attainment of compliance goals.The article also presents three illustrative cases,articulates forthcoming priorities for action,and outlines prospects for the future.
