Introduction to the First Edition of Manual on the Development and Use of FAO and WHO Specifications for Microbial Pesticide
Due to significant differences in active ingredient characteristics and parameters of product quality control between microbial pesticides and chemical pesticides,in order to harmonize and facilitate the development and use of the quality standards of microbial pesticide globally,based on the original"FAO/WHO Manual on Pesticide Specifications and Related Documents"(2016,First Edition,Third Revision),FAO and WHO jointly developed the Manual on the Development and Use of FAO and WHO Specifications for Microbial Pesticide.The first edition was published in April 2024.This paper introduces the basic characteristics of the manual,data requirements for proposing FAO/WHO specifications for microbial pesticide TC and formulated products,as well as the differences compared to traditional chemical pesticides.Lastly,it summarizes the opportunities and challenges faced by Chinese pesticide industry in proposing FAO/WHO microbial pesticide specification,providing international reference for pesticide production,applications,and management-related entities in China.
