Analysis of Heavy Metals and Pesticide Residues in Different Origin Hemp Seed by GC/ICP-MS
This study investigates the residual levels of organochlorine pesticides and heavy metals in hemp seed,an authentic medicine in Heilongjiang Province, along with its health risk assessment.Ten batches of samples were collected from four areas in Heilongjiang Province, while additional 12 batches were obtained from various producing areas in southern China.Heavy metals were determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, and pesticide residues were determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.According to the four general principles outline in China Pharmacopoeia(2020 edition),the risk assessment of organochlorine pesticides and heavy metals residues in Chinese herbal medicines was carried out.Organochlorine pesticides were detected in all ten batches of samples collected from different producing areas in southern China. In terms of heavy metal residue, seven batches of samples exceeded the general limit standard set by China Pharmacopoeia.Although the heavy metal content in the remaining hemp seeds from the south did not exceed the national limit standard,it significantly differed from that of hemp seeds produced in Heilongjiang Province, indicating health risks. This study aims to provide a solid foundation and scientific evidence for a comprehensive and precise evaluation of the quality of hemp seeds from different origins.
