The success of The Age of Awakening has provided a useful experience for the practice of"quality"strategy of Chinese TV dramas. The drama tells the historical story from the New Culture Movement to the founding of the Communist Party of China(CPC)in a warm way, which is characterized by revolutionary romanticism. This paper borrows Lottman's view of image language to interpret the recurring animal imagery in The Age of Awakening, arguing that the"camel"presents the double repression of man and society, and the"dove"conveys the compassion of the revolutionaries, while the"ant"conveys the compassion of the revolutionaries, and the"ant"conveys the compassion of the revolutionaries. The"ant"becomes the witness of the pioneer's righteousness of life and death, the"chicken"appears to criticize the feudal dregs, and the"monkey"completes the reflection on the national foci. This way of crea-tion breaks through the limitations of traditional narrative language and enriches the artistic expression of melodrama.
