mRNA Differential Expression Analysis Between Fertile and Sterile Young Panicle of Photoperiod Sensitive Genic Male Sterile Indica Rice
The mRNAs from both fertile and sterile young panicle of photoperiod sensitive genic male sterile indica rice Hs-1 are analyzed by DD-PCR. The results are as following: Among 148 DD-PCR reactions, 10 reactions produce repeatable differentially expressed bands. In those 10 reactions, 4 of them each show 1~4 differential bands that are foundeither only in fertile young panicle or in both fertile and sterile young panicles. Each of the rest 6 reactions amplified more than 4 differential bands from both fertile and sterile young panicles. There are43 specific bands in total, among which 21 specific bands may be related to sterility. We suggest the key to isolate sterile genes is to anchor the start period of differential expression of these genes duringfertility transformation. It is considered that expression of sterilegenes may also result in transcription of other mRNAs and thus produce additional differential bands. It is important to further investigate the relationship between the differential bands and sterility.
