Experimental study on leakage performance of labyrinth gas seal
By establishing a three-dimensional numerical calculation model of labyrinth gas seal,the leakage characteristics of labyrinth gas seal under different opening of back pressure valve,rotational speed and inlet pressure was investigated.An experiment device was designed and built for the leakage characteristics of labyrinth gas seal,and the comparison between numerical and experimental results was performed.Results indicate that the experimental results of labyrinth gas seal are in good agreement with the numerical results.Under the same opening of back pressure valve,the leakage of labyrinth gas seal becomes larger with the increase of inlet pressure and shows an approximately linear relationship.With the increase of rotation speed,the leakage of labyrinth gas seal decreases slowly and remains approximately constant.At the constant inlet pressure and rotation speed,the leakage of labyrinth gas seal increases as the opening of back pressure valve becomes larger.The maximum leakage is achived at the opening of back pressure valve=1.
