Based on the data from provincial administrations and China Family Panel Studies(CFPS)from 2014 to 2020,this paper explores the impact of digital economy on urban-rural income gap from the perspective of per capita annual income.Research has found that the digital economy can narrow the income gap between ur-ban and rural areas, and it is more significant for low-income groups.Among them, the knowledge transfer effect and industrial structure effect weakens the direct reduction effect of the digital economy on the income gap.The heterogeneity test results show that the digital economy can significantly reduce the income gap of women,low-educated groups and between urban and rural areas in the eastern region. Therefore, the income gap between ur-ban and rural areas can be narrowed in terms of popularizing rural education and promoting the digital transforma-tion of agriculture.
