The Theory of Knowing in Huang-Di-Si-Jing Revisited
Taking Huang-Di-Si-Jing as the representative, the problem of knowing is highlighted in the con-text of Huang-Lao's political philosophy of Tao and Law.For the rulers, the knowing of Tao and the form and name of all things are two aspects of the political order construction. In theory, knowing Tao is the prerequisite for grasping the form and name of everything. In the process of the political practice, knowing Tao which means the mental state of the absolute emptiness is the basis for the full development of the ability to recognize the name and order of all things. In addition, because of the fundamental consistency between the Heavenly Way and the human, and the Heavenly Way's characteristics of certainty, perceptibility and authority, the knowing of the Heavenly Way becomes an important reference for the construction of the personnel order. And the influence of heaven and earth on human life makes knowing and actively dealing with the way of heaven becoming a inevitable choice for the rulers.
