Neo Confucianism,Gentry and Society:An Investigation Centered on the Practice of Neo Confucianism by Scholars in Central Fujian in the Ming Dynasty
As a set of cultural and ideological system with ethics and morality as the main body,Neo Confucianism has the characteristics of introspection and self-consciousness,and also has the spirit of strongly interfering with the outside world.As a philosophical system produced under the historical background of a specific era,it permeates all levels of society from top to bottom.The gentry group with a strong sense of social responsibility,as the inheritors of the Neo Confucianism thoughts and concepts,spread the Neo Confucianism thoughts and concepts to the local society by participating in the public affairs of the local society,and promoted the socialization of Neo Confucianism.Zhangzhou,as the place where Zhu Zi passed through,was flourishing in the song and Ming Dynasties and cultivated a large number of Neo Confucianism talents.This paper discusses the relationship between Neo Confucianism,the gentry and society,and advocates strengthening the application and innovation of Neo Confucianism by investigating the Neo Confucianism practice of the scholars in Minzhong of Ming Dynasty represented by Chen Zhensheng,Lin Kui,Huang Daozhou and other gentry.
