A Review of Metacognitive Research in Second Language Learning
With the rise and development of cognitive psychology,the concept of'metacognition'was first introduced in the 1970s and has attracted much discussion and attention.After decades of development,metacognition has been proven to be important for second language learning,and language learners with strong metacognitive skills are more aware of their own learning abilities and understand how to complete learning tasks more efficiently.Most of the existing studies are practical studies on the application of metacognitive theories in specific second language subjects,but it is extremely rare to discuss metacognitive studies in the context of second language learning.This article will compare and analyze the existing research findings,summarize their contributions and shortcomings,and provide support for enriching the connotation and meaning of metacognitive theory in the field of second language learning and promoting its application in future practice.
