Enhancing public library services is not only an inherent requirement for safeguarding people's cultural rights and improving their quality of life,but also an important means of filling the shortcomings of China's public cultural undertakings.This article uses panel data of public libraries in 31 provinces,autonomous regions,and municipalities directly under the central government in China from 2010 to 2019 as a sample to study the impact of internal factors of public libraries on service efficiency.On the basis of using the SB-SBM model to calculate the efficiency of public library services,principal component regression(PCR)is used to identify the main internal factors that affect the efficiency of public library services.The results showed that the book and activity indicators,venue and talent indicators,and digital utilization indicators extracted through principal component analysis had a significant positive impact on the service efficiency of public libraries in China.However,after conducting a sample study,it was found that the book and activity indicators,as well as digital utilization indicators,had a significant impact on the service efficiency of public libraries in coastal areas,while the venue and talent indicators had a significant impact on the service efficiency of public libraries in inland areas.Therefore,it is recommended that coastal areas strengthen their collection resources,actively carry out various activities,and actively introduce digital technology.In contrast,inland areas should further strengthen their library buildings and talent allocation,improve the coverage of public libraries,and continuously expand the construction of talent echelons.
