Empirical Study of the Western Culture Course Based on Project-based Learning
Grounded in project-based learning approach(PBL),this study lays out an innovative teaching path for western culture course in China:the western culture course based on PBL in a blended teaching environment supported by smart teaching platforms.With an attempt to examine the feasibility and effectiveness of this teaching design,an empirical study was adopted to analyze the quantitative data of students'final exam results and interpret the qualitative data of participants'implications on their learning improvements.Both the results reveal that,compared with the traditional teaching method,this new teaching design can not only promote students'active participation in class,but also effectively improve the teaching effect and quality.Students'subjective initiative has been activated.They learned cultural knowledge and cross-cultural communication skills in natural,real,and meaningful teaching activities,which improves their learning efficiency.
