On"Truth-seeking"and"Utility-attaining"of Translators'Behavior in the English Translation of Qin Opera
Based on the continuous evaluation model of"Truth-seeking and Utility-attaining"translator's behavior from the perspective of translator's behavior criticism,this paper explores the"Truth-seeking"and"Utility-attaining"nature of translator's behavior in the English version of Qin Opera in combination with the practical case of its English translation.Research findings reveal that both at the micro-level of lexical choices and the macro-level discourse structure of song passages,translators demonstrate varying degrees of inclination towards"Truth-seeking"and"Utility-attaining".Although existing English translations of Qin Opera may exhibit instances of mistranslation or a lack of optimal balance between"Truth-seeking"and"Utility-attaining",overall translation outcomes reflect translators'pursuit of fidelity to content,style,and meaning,as well as their commitment to serving society,facilitating dissemination,addressing readership,and appealing to the market.By achieving a harmonious integration of"Truth-seeking"and"Utility-attaining"the author aims to provide valuable insights and references for the translation of Qin Opera in international communication endeavors,thereby fostering the global outreach and domestic acceptance of Qin Opera and its theatrical heritage.
