Abstract
The Fourth Global Governance Frontier Forum as well as the Symposium on"New Situation of Global Governance and Energy Transition Under the Trend of Carbon Neutrality"was successfully held in Shandong University at Weihai on June 15,2024.The forum was co-sponsored by the following institutes at Shandong University:the School of Political Science and Public Administration,the School of Northeast Asia Studies,the Center for Global Governance and International Organizations,and the Institute of Envi-ronmental Politics.Shandong Ecological Civilization Research Association was the co-organizer.Nearly 30 experts and scholars attended the forum and exchanged their ideas.They are from Peking University,Chi-nese Academy of Social Sciences,Fudan University,Xi'an Jiaotong University,Shandong University,Jilin University,China University of Petroleum(East China),Beijing University of Technology,Shanghai In-ternational Studies University,Nanjing University of Science and Technology,Beijing Language and Cul-ture University,East China University of Political Science and Law,Global Energy Interconnection Devel-opment and Cooperation Organization,and Shandong Ecological Civilization Research Association.Focus-ing on the theme of"new situation of global governance and energy transition under the trend of carbon neutrality",they discussed the issue from the perspectives of climate governance,energy transition,great power game,industrial development,etc.They also addressed other core issues such as the world signifi-cance of China's governance participation,opportunities and challenges,and practical approaches.The main ideas put forward are as follows:global carbon neutrality and climate governance can hardly continue to provide support for the current international order,but have become a new focus of contradiction in the crisis of the international order;the global energy transition calls for the realization of energy justice;further attention should be given to how to distribute benefits in the future energy transition process,and how to guide the corresponding rules,principles and norms in energy governance;given its own economic size and energy mix,China's governance engagement is a key force in the success or failure of the global climate multilateral process;China should speed up the green transformation of its domestic development mode in accordance with the established arrangements,pay attention to the theoretical innovation of the"China School"based on practical experience,and properly handle the differences of interests among major countries.In addition,China also needs to strengthen the sharing of development achievements through the"Green Belt and Road"and other forms,and constantly shape the role of a change leader in the pursuit of equity and justice in the process of promoting international energy justice.
