Evaluation of the Efficiency in Cultivating Non-Cognitive Skills of Vocational Students——An Estimation Based on the DEA-Tobit Model
Non-cognitive skills are crucial for individual development.Enhancing the efficiency of cultivating non-cognitive skills in vocational colleges can help optimize the allocation of vocational education resources. This study used data from the 2022 National Vocational College Student Development Survey and applied the Super Efficiency Data Envelopment Analysis(SE-DEA)to measure the technical efficiency of non-cognitive skills cultivation in 31 vocational colleges.Additionally, the Tobit model is used to analyze the factors influencing the efficiency of non-cognitive skills cultivation among vocational students. The findings reveal that most vocational colleges exhibit effective technical efficiency in non-cognitive skills cultiva-tion,those with distinct industry characteristics and higher degrees of professional clustering performing better in terms of tech-nical efficiency. The variable measuring teachers'enthusiasm for teaching, which represents the process input of the school, has a significant positive impact on the efficiency of non-cognitive skills cultivation, while the variable representing the level of faculty resources has a negative impact. Moreover, the proportion of students transferring from junior colleges to bachelor's programs negatively affects the overall efficiency of non-cognitive skills cultivation in schools.
