[Research purpose]China's traditional intelligence culture is deeply influenced by traditional culture,especially Confucian culture.Although Confucianism and military strategists have different concerns,there are also a number of similarities,both of them played a positive role in establishing a unified feudal empire and maintaining national security.[Research method]By investigating the quality requirements of military strategists such as Sun Tzu for spies in light of the pursuit of personality for a gentleman in Confucian cul-ture,this paper puts forward the basic characteristics of Chinese traditional intelligence culture and its similarities with the spirit of Confu-cian culture.[Research conclusion]Confucian culture and intelligence culture have certain common ground in spirit and objectives.Mis-understanding and misreading of traditional military and intelligence culture will to some extent affect intelligence studies.
