[Research purpose]Studying Robert Clark's focus on Sun Tzu's intelligence thought provides a lens of the"other"for con-structing a discourse system of intelligence studies with Chinese characteristics and helps objectively evaluate the theoretical value and his-torical influence of Sun Tzu's intelligence thought.[Research method]A literature analysis of Robert Clark's intelligence theory is con-ducted.It explores from aspects such as intelligence collection,intelligence analysis and intelligence deception,examines the extent to which he is influenced by Sun Tzu.[Research conclusion]Although Robert Clark's understanding of The Art of War was not without flaws,his extensive citation of Sun Tzu's famous sayings demonstrates the important value of Sun Tzu's intelligence theory to the develop-ment of modern intelligence theory.
