[Research purpose]Studying the performance and causes of errors in US intelligence work during the 1979 Islamic Revolution can provide more reference and guidance for China in foreign affairs research and intelligence analysis.[Research method]The main use of literature analysis method is to sort out the relevant diplomatic archives of the United States,analyzing from various stages of the intelli-gence cycle,systematically sorting out the causes and internal logical relationships of errors in various aspects such as pre-threat assess-ment,intelligence collection and analysis,and intelligence distribution.[Research conclusion]There were intelligence errors in the US during the internal political changes in Iran,which suggests that we should enhance our strategic intelligence warning capabilities,timely assess risk levels,and intelligence consumers should also pay attention to maintaining neutrality and continuously optimizing the intelli-gence distribution mechanism to avoid similar errors.
