Effects of Pilot Fuel Quantity on the Combustion Characteristics of a Diesel Pilot Ignition CNG Engine
A diesel pilot ignition CNG engine refitted from a six-cylinder diesel engine is tested to analyze the effects of pilot diesel quantity and injection timing on the combustion process of engine. The results show that with the increase of the pilot diesel quantity, the curve of heat release rate is gradually shifted from double peak to single peak with the brake thermal efficiency of engine obviously enhanced. The pressure rise rate is reduced with the increase of pilot diesel quantity and the delay of injection timing, while the combustion duration does not change much with pilot diesel quantity.
