An Experimental Study on the Effects of Intake Throttling on Diesel Engine Performance
In view of the poor performance of SCR type exhaust after-treatment device for diesel engine at lower exhaust temperature,an additional intake throttle is added on the intake system of diesel engine WP10,and an experimental study is conducted on the effects of intake throttling on the exhaust temperature, emission and fuel consumption of diesel engine. The results show that intake throttling can significantly increase the exhaust temperature at low load conditions. As throttling ratio increases within a certain range, the fuel consumption and PM and NOx emissions do not rise significantly. However, when throttling ratio exceeds certain range, the effect becomes apparent, and the higher the speed the more significant the influence.
