Research on the Dual Optimization Strategy for Undergraduate Legal Education in the Context of the New Liberal Arts——Taking Shandong University for Example
The traditional undergraduate legal education model is no longer capable of meeting the needs of the new era. This is primarily evident in the necessity for a deeper exploration in explicating Chinese legal theories, the impera-tive to enhance the ability to respond to international situations, the limited efficacy in improving students'practi-cal skills, and the ongoing need to explore the development path of interdisciplinary studies. In the context of the New Liberal Arts, undergraduate legal education should adopt a dual optimization strategy comprising the en-hancement of both core and complementary elements to maximize the effectiveness of reform. The optimization of undergraduate legal education should primarily focus on the curriculum system, grounded in legal resources in China, the cultivation of international talents, the enhancement of practical teaching, and the fostering of interdis-ciplinary approaches. On the other hand,it should rely on supporting mechanisms, emphasizing the quality of student admissions, maintaining an employment-oriented approach, improving teaching quality, and enriching ex-tracurricular activities. This comprehensive approach aims to cultivate an outstanding cohort of legal profession-als.
